Going to a restaurant tops the list of things to do post lockdown.

10 Mar 2021

Daniel Whittemore, Whilton Mill Karting & Outdoor Activities, talks about outdoor dining and karting special offers; available from 12th April.

The Independent newspaper recently wrote (full story) that post pandemic Brits are most looking forward to going to a restaurant. For me that’s so true! It was December 2020 that I last ate out in a restaurant with my family. Until that point, it was something that we enjoyed almost weekly. But tier 4 restrictions that came into effect in December put an end to one our favourite family pastimes.

Of course, restrictions that saw Brits lose many freedoms were necessary to address a much bigger concern. In the overall scheme of things, not being able to eat out in a restaurant is not a big deal…but I’m so looking forward to enjoying a meal and pint out with family and friends!

During what’s been a very bleak winter it’s been good to have something to look forward to: which restaurant to go to first, what activities to do with the kids when visitor attractions reopen and where to go on holiday.

Going by the number of calls and bookings received during lockdown it’s abundantly clear that for many of our customers karting is also high up on the list things to do with the family post lockdown.

Covered outdoor dining area available from 12th April…

With vaccinations in full swing, there is light at the end of the tunnel for food lovers and go-karters. On the 12th April we’re delighted to finally reopen the restaurant and outdoor go-kart tracks at Whilton Mill Karting & Outdoor Activities for outdoor dining, karting, quad biking, clay shooting, archery and team building.

Allowing restaurants to open for outdoor dining only in April wasn’t the best of ideas…but we’ve got it covered! Quite literally, as from 12th April, visitors to Whilton Mill Karting & Outdoor Activities can enjoy al fresco dining under the cover of a marquee. April can be a little cold so if diners need warming up blankets will be available to borrow.

The Oblivion Burger: 7oz 100% beef pattie double stacked…

Lockdown gave us time to work on a new and improved menu, which will be available to view online soon. One of the highlights for me is the Oblivion Burger, named after the first corner of our 1200m International Circuit. Our burgers are 100% beef that contain a selection of cuts from locally reared cattle. The Oblivion is a brioche bun stacked up with two 7oz patties, oozes with cheese, topped with bacon, salad and pickle. Yum!

To encourage customers to race back we have some AMAZING special offers running from 12th April through to 16th May. In joint pole position are ‘Kids eat for FREE’ and ‘£10 for 15-minutes of karting’!

Kids eat for FREE – order one adult main meal and choose one child meal free. Minimum spend of £10 per adult applies. Offer applies advance reservations between 12th April and 16th May for adult meals ordered from our outdoor dining menu.
